The zig-zag seperator, also known as the ZZeparator, sets new standards in cleaning.

How the ZZeparator works

Structure:

  • The zigzag separator consists of several steps arranged one behind the other in a zigzag shape.
  • Each stage has separating elements in which the lighter particles rise to the top and heavier particles sink to the bottom.
  • A stream of air is passed through the machine, which sorts the particles according to their weight.

 

Cleaning process:

  • The product is fed into a static mixer and distributed homogeneously
  • The grain is dispersed on a cone
  • The separation zone is formed by a radially symmetrical zig-zag channel. As the grain falls through the steps, it is hit by a stream of air.
  • Light impurities (e.g. dust, chaff) are sucked upwards.
  • Cleaned grain falls to the bottom.

Combination with cyclone

Cleaning chain process

  1. Separation in the air classifier
    A strong air flow is generated, which lifts and sorts the material. Lighter and smaller particles are transported with the air flow, while heavier and larger particles sink due to gravity.
  1. Cyclone
    The fine particles transported by the air separator and the air enter the cyclone. The centrifugal force in the cyclone sets the air in a spiral motion. This pushes the fine particles outwards and they slide down along the wall of the cyclone. The separated particles are collected in a container. The clean air is discharged through the top opening of the cyclone.
