The cleaning performances range from 20 to 120t/h. Suitable cyclones for air cleaning are also available. Steel frames according to your requirements are also supplied on request.

During the cleaning of stored goods, it has to be ensured that the air flow is adapted to the harvest material. A cleaner setting from the last year may probably be bad for the current harvest material. Grain size and moisture content could have changed compared to the previous year and this would lead to an insufficient cleaning of the grain. A readjustment of the cleanser is necessary.

ZZeparator – The new grain conditioner

The cleaning performance of the DLG award-winning ZZeparator ranges from 20 to 120 t/h. Suitable cyclones are also available for cleaning the air. A suitable steel frame, adapted to your requirements, can also be supplied on request.

Basis for any cleaning based on an air separator is the so called hovering speed. It gives an indication at which air speed a seed starts to hover. It is important to adjust the air speed at the cleaner, from which unwanted components start to hover but the good not yet. An adjustment is possible via an optional valve. A frequency converter can also be used.

How does grain cleaning work?

The purpose of grain cleaning is to remove foreign matter such as dust, soil, weed seeds, straw, chaff and damaged grains from the grain in order to improve its quality for further processing or storage. The cleaning process is carried out using a combination of mechanical, physical and sometimes optical methods. Different machines and techniques are used depending on the pollution and requirements.

 

Basic processes of grain cleaning:

    • Pre-cleaning:
      • Objective: Removal of coarse impurities such as stones, straw and larger foreign bodies.
      • Frequently used devices: drum screens, pre-cleaners with coarse screens.

 

    • Main cleaning:
        • Objective: Removal of smaller particles such as sand, dust or weed seeds.
        • Techniques: Air separation, sieving, magnetic separation (for metallic impurities).

 

    • Fine cleaning:
      • Objective: Final cleaning for the highest purity requirements, e.g. before processing into food.
      • Methods: special sieves, optical sorters, specific density separation.

 

    • Special cleaning:
      • Removal of specific impurities, e.g. by trieur machines or color sorters.
